When the ice moves\u000A downstream it can jam...which result in flooding...most often in\u000A upstream locations due to backwater. The still Frozen Lake Erie\u000A will be a barrier to any ice trying to advance downstream for\u000A the rivers and creeks that flow into the lake.\u000A\u000A* Rain will end from west to east this morning. Rainfall amounts\u000A in the watch area will range from two tenths to half an inch.\u000A The rainfall and warmer temperatures will eliminate the\u000A snow pack completely from all but the snowbelt counties. This\u000A combined runoff will increase the flood threat across the area\u000A this weekend...but especially for those communities already\u000A impacted by ice jams. River levels could rise very abruptly\u000A which could lead to the development of additional ice jams.\u000A\u000APrecautionary/preparedness actions...\u000A\u000AIce jam flooding is difficult to predict...and conditions can\u000Achange rapidly as a jam forms and breaks. The worst flooding\u000Aassociated with ice jams is often immediately upstream of the jam\u000Alocation.
